I'm going to come right out and say that I have a love/hate relationship with winter. I love sitting in a warm house, sipping hot chocolate and watching the flakes fall gracefully down and covering the world in a pure, blissful blanket of sparkling white.
THAT IS A FANTASY - most of the time. I HATE driving in it, scraping it off my car, filling my boots with it on my way in to work, and attempting to teach while it is distracting my little ones.
This last week nearly sent me over the edge. As a teacher, I've learned to brace myself for the last week before Christmas break. I plan fun activities that don't require a lot of stress on my or the kids' part. We sing songs, we do art, we play games. That's how you get through the week of "insanity" when their brains fall out and all they can think about is PRESENTS!
But an entire week of WICKED snow storms added a new little twist to their craziness. The town where I teach is up on a mountain with no real development around it. So, not only does it snow, but the wind tears down the hill leaving frozen bodies and huge snow drifts in its path. So we didn't send the kids out for one recess break in the entire week. Not one. I love my students, but I also need a break. I feel exactly like the poor animal at the top of this post.
Help... help... help...
Luckily, we made it through and I have TWO WEEKS OFF!!! Just enough time to find my sanity.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it ... STOP!

Hi. I'm Bonnie.
If there is ANYONE still reading this blog... thanks for your diligence. And I'm sorry. It's been OVER A MONTH since we've posted. And I honestly can't remember much from that last month because I fall asleep at the drop of a hat and that seems to take some time away from social things... like blogging! (But I don't feel so bad. My sister hasn't been so consistent either. Must be hereditary!)
So, here are some things we've neglected to mention:
-We went to New York a while back and had a blast. It was probably our last big trip for a while, so we sure did live it up! (A post will follow about that when I get MORE time!)
-Jon put up our Christmas lights and did a fantabulous job! (see above)
-I decorated the inside of the house for the holidays, and I think it's pretty darn cute for my first time ever!
-And pretty much everything else is the same!
I just have to say that I am constantly amazed by the talented, amazing, kind, generous people that fill our lives with joy. Thank you for being you.

Happy Birthday Johnny Boy!
Today my bestest friend, love, and partner in crime is turning 27! We have had 3 of his birthdays together so far, and each one has been an adventure!
-2006 - We had been dating for a month and I met his family (grandparents included!) for the first time at his birthday dinner. Woo hoo! (It must have gone well because we were married like 5 minutes later!)
-2007 - We were LIVING with his parents and made a very necessary escape to Park City for the weekend. It was so much fun - we pretended it was our honeymoon again ... and had a blast telling everyone we were honeymooners. :) It doesn't matter what we do, what kind of trouble we get into, how many jokes we play or shops I drag him to, I love being with Jon.
-So this year ... I was planning on doing something fabulous and surprising him with a great ... something. But these days I work, eat dinner, and fall asleep by 7:30 or 8:00. So I'm a lame wife this time around. So, we're going to the temple, then meeting up with Caity, Bob, Jessica and maybe even Brenda for lunch and a movie. It will be wonderful to just hang out with friends ... and James Bond!
Things I love about Jon:
-his smile
-his cute pokey-up hair
-how amazing he is with computers/tvs/phones/and anything that beeps, buzzes, or lights up.
-the way he looks at me
-the butterflies I feel when he pops into my classroom or comes home early and surprises me.
-how particular he is with clothes - and shopping. He knows what he wants and he either finds it or he doesn't and he's done in minutes.
-watching him play with Jovi and laugh and wrestle - like two little kids.
-I love that he stands up for himself ... and me. If something isn't right, he doesn't quit until it is. He's taught me a lot about being assertive and not letting people get away with crap. :)
-I love how he's easy-going and goes with the flow. He puts up with a lot of my crazy ideas and plans because ... well, because he's so sweet.
-he is the BEST listener. Whether it's work stress, a funny story, or I just need to vent, Jon always seems to know when to "just listen" or "listen and fix it". That's a rare skill in the "man world"!
-Jon is an INCREDIBLE cook. Especially lately since I don't cook. :) He is a master barbecue-er and makes KILLER creme brulee. Oh yum. I want some right now!
-I love that he's mine. Forever. I am sooooo lucky.

big news is an understatement
So, I'm pregnant! We found out over two months ago and I've had the hardest time keeping it quiet ... but now it's official! I wanted to tell everyone in person, but with everything that's going on, I just can't wait any longer. Maybe this post will facilitate some more of those phone calls and visits! We love you all and we are proud to introduce you to our new little JELLY BEAN. He or she will join our family May 27 - ish. We can't wait!

nothing to blog about
I love blogging ... or at least reading everyone else's blogs. It's pretty sad that I haven't updated for 2 weeks. So I just wanted to say hi. Here's my life lately:
-wake up with only enough time to shower, eat, and run to school
-teach the young minds of America for the quickest 8 hours of my life
-run around like crazy getting ready for the next super-speedy day
-go to the gym (or mow the lawn and walk the dog like tonight)
-watch some TV (my vices: The Office, Ugly Betty, The Biggest Loser, CSI: any of them, Law and Order ... and (so sad) Lipstick Jungle)
-crash on the couch
-Jon comes home from work, wakes me up, and we go to bed.
What a life.
At least last weekend we got to visit my cute sisters (oh and Ty!) in Logan. It was a beautiful, relaxing, super-fun break in the monotony. We even got to go to Smith and Edwards TWICE (thanks Candace) and now I never have to go again! Thanks girls for hanging out with us!
